“A New Life”

A New Life was recorded between 2006-2008 when I was fresh out of college, and back in the States after a 5 month trip to India where I was traveling, seeking and singing. The songs on this album tell my story of holding onto a Love that is greater than me while breaking through depression, the confines of the past, and the fear of facing the vast unknown of the life that stood ahead of me. The producer, Phil Ludwig, and I tried to create a rich tapestry of sounds that showcased the many styles of music that influenced us, and evoked themes of jazz, pop, bluegrass, Indian Classical, reggae, and the Blues all together in this one album.

But the fear and the hate and the anger I bring

I once made a promise to stand by my dream
Staked out my lifeline on what I believed,
I Stood by my heart and the ones close to me
Swore I'd surrender what I did not need

I saw broken down rainbows and battle-scarred plans
Castles all crumbling back into sand
A fish out of water, couldn't swim on the land
Till I found me somebody who loved who I am
He loves who I am

Relentless desire put a wrong spell on me
A lover who tantalized but stayed out of reach
I found my forgiveness way down on my knees
And learned to accept all the gifts I'd received

My harvest I reaped from the tears I had sown
My fingers were ripped from the things I had grown
Now I do not covet, I do not own

A smile wide across your face

Opened my eyes
When he rolled back his sleeves
And showed his war wounds
And tried to cry

But the legacy of love He’d leave behind

The brightness of his smile
Was gone unseen by his family

Then Andrew unraveling

He could not keep his feet on the ground

No it’s a state of mind that intrigued him

Andrew dropped to his knees and screamed

And we wept together, Andrew and I,
My cheek felt warm against his
And the legacy of love that was so far behind
